Links a Google spam reviewer wouldn't blink at.
Most link building is a liability wearing a growth-channel costume: PBN networks, "guest post marketplaces," and reciprocal link rings that trade a short-term rankings bump for a long-term manual action risk. We build the other kind: editorial links earned on real sites, through real outreach, that still look exactly as earned a year from now as they do the day they go live.
No PBNs. No link farms. No "guaranteed placement" subscriptions. Every link is reviewed before it's reported as a result.
What a vetted link actually looks like
A link isn't an asset if it can get your site penalized.
Google's link spam systems specifically target the three shortcuts most "SEO link packages" are built on. If a vendor can deliver 50 links in a week, those are usually the links Google is actively training its spam models to find.
PBNs
Sites built or bought purely to host outbound links. Google's link spam update specifically targets networks like this; when one node gets caught, every site it links to loses the link's value at best, and gets a manual action at worst.
Marketplace links
Guest post marketplaces that guarantee placement on "DR 50+ sites" are selling access to the same rotating list of link-farm blogs to hundreds of buyers. The relevance and editorial judgment Google's guidelines require isn't there.
"You link me, I'll link you"
Excessive link exchanges are named explicitly in Google's spam policies. A pattern of sites in the same niche all linking to each other is one of the easier spam signatures to detect algorithmically.
Four ways we earn links. Zero that involve buying a network.
Digital PR & Data Stories
We package your original data, a survey, or a genuinely newsworthy angle and pitch it to journalists and publications covering your industry. This earns the hardest links to fake: unsolicited editorial citations.
Resource & Niche Edits
We find existing, relevant pages on authoritative sites (resource lists, roundups, existing articles missing a current source) and pitch a genuinely useful addition, not a paid placement.
Guest Contributions
Original, bylined articles written for publications your audience actually reads, placed through direct editor relationships rather than a marketplace. One contextual link, earned through real contribution.
Broken Link & Unlinked Mention Reclamation
We find pages that already reference your brand without linking it, or that link to a dead competitor resource, and ask the site owner to point the link at you instead. Low-effort, high-relevance, and fast to close.
Every prospect clears this checklist before outreach even starts.
This is the actual filter we run every link opportunity through. If a site fails any row below, it doesn't get pitched, regardless of how fast that would let us hit a link-count target.
| Check | Standard | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Real organic traffic | Verified via Ahrefs/Semrush, not self-reported | Confirms the site has actual readers, not just a domain metric |
| Topical relevance | Content must relate to your industry or audience | Relevance is one of Google's clearest link-quality signals |
| Outbound link profile | Checked for excessive paid/low-quality outbound links | A site that links to everything links to nothing meaningfully |
| Editorial control | Site editor reviews and can decline the pitch | If placement is guaranteed regardless of content quality, it isn't editorial |
| Network membership | Disqualified if linked to a known PBN or link farm | One flagged network node can devalue every link connected to it |
| Sponsored disclosure | Rel="sponsored" applied where compensation changed hands | Required by Google's guidelines; undisclosed paid links risk manual action |
Editorial links don't just move rankings. They build the citation trail AI answer engines rely on.
ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's AI Overviews lean heavily on third-party corroboration (independent sites discussing and linking to a brand) as a trust signal when deciding what to cite. A page with zero outside mentions is invisible to that process, no matter how well it's written.
- Digital PR placements double as the exact kind of independent, third-party mentions AI citation models look for.
- Every placement we secure is a real URL an AI crawler can actually fetch, not a paywalled or JS-gated page it can't read.
- If this is a priority for your site, pair this service with our GEO & AI Citation OS, which covers the on-page half of AI visibility.
A four-phase process, repeated every month.
Audit & Target Mapping
We review your current backlink profile, flag any existing toxic or spammy links worth disavowing, and map which pages on your site most need authority, usually your highest commercial-intent pages, not just the homepage.
Typical duration: Week 1Asset & Angle Development
Before any outreach starts, we build or identify what's actually worth linking to: an original data point, a genuinely useful resource, a contribution angle a busy editor would say yes to. Outreach without a reason to say yes is just spam.
Typical duration: Weeks 1–2Outreach & Vetting
Prospects are pulled from our vetting checklist above, pitched individually, and every resulting placement is checked against the same standard before it's ever counted as a delivered link.
Typical duration: Ongoing, every monthReporting & Reassessment
Monthly reporting shows exactly which links went live, the metrics they passed vetting on, and where they point. We reassess target pages and angles every month rather than running the same pitch on repeat.
Typical duration: End of each monthly cycleGood fit, and not.
This works well if you
- Already have solid on-page SEO and content, and authority is the clear gap
- Can commit to at least a 3 to 6 month engagement, since editorial links take time to earn
- Have (or can produce) something genuinely citation-worthy: data, expertise, or a real story
- Want links that still hold up under manual review a year from now
This isn't the right fit if you
- Need a specific number of links by a fixed date regardless of quality
- Want the cheapest possible cost-per-link, since that pricing only exists in networks and marketplaces
- Haven't fixed major on-page or technical issues yet, since links amplify a page that already converts, they don't fix one that doesn't
- Are looking for guaranteed rankings tied to link count, which no ethical provider can promise
Monthly link building retainers
Pricing reflects real outreach labor and vetting time, not a per-link rate card. [Confirm and replace the placeholder figures below before publishing.]
- 3–4 vetted placements / month
- Resource & niche edit outreach
- Broken link & mention reclamation
- Monthly reporting
- 6–8 vetted placements / month
- Everything in Foundation
- Guest contribution placements
- Quarterly digital PR / data story push
- 10+ vetted placements / month
- Everything in Growth
- Dedicated digital PR campaigns
- Multi-site / multi-brand coordination
All packages require a minimum 3-month term. Link counts are monthly targets based on current pipeline performance, not a contractual guarantee. A vetting standard this strict means some months land above target and some below, and we'd rather report that honestly than loosen the standard to hit a number.
Common questions
Do you use PBNs, link networks, or guaranteed-placement packages?
No. Every prospect is vetted individually against the standard shown above, and we walk away from sites that fail it even when that means missing a monthly target. If a provider can guarantee a specific DR or placement on a fixed list of sites, that's the signature of a network, not editorial outreach.
How fast will I see ranking movement?
Editorial links typically take 2–4 months to show up as consistent ranking movement, since Google has to discover, crawl, and weigh each link, and because real placements take real time to earn. Anyone promising fast, dramatic movement from fresh links alone is usually describing a network, not organic authority building.
Can you guarantee a specific number of links per month?
We give a monthly target range based on your niche and current pipeline, not a fixed guarantee. A hard guarantee on link count almost always means the quality bar gets lowered to hit it. We'd rather deliver fewer, durable placements than hit a number with links that don't hold up.
What happens to links if a site I'm placed on later gets penalized?
We monitor placements over time. If a site we placed a link on is later flagged for spam or loses its organic visibility, we flag it in your reporting and factor it into future prospecting, which is exactly why every placement is vetted against real traffic and topical relevance up front, rather than picked from a static list.
Do you build links to money pages directly, or to the homepage?
Mostly to the pages that need authority most (category pages, cornerstone guides, and commercial pages) based on the audit in Phase 1. A profile made up entirely of homepage links looks unnatural to both search engines and a human reviewer.
Is this a fit if my site already has technical SEO issues?
Fix those first, or run them in parallel. Links amplify a page's existing ability to rank and convert; they don't compensate for a page Google can't properly crawl or render, or for one visitors bounce from immediately. If you're not sure where you stand, our e-commerce SEO services or local SEO services pages cover that groundwork.
Ready for links that hold up to scrutiny?
Send us your current backlink profile and we'll tell you honestly whether link building is your actual bottleneck right now, or whether something upstream needs fixing first.
